This Tuesday, June 17th, Carrboro was officially designated a Breastfeeding Family Friendly Community, and we celebrated this amazing milestone with a gathering at the Carrboro Town Hall before the Town meeting and then joined the meeting to hear the proclamation read!

The Proclamation was read by Mayor Barbara Foushee. Members of the Breastfeed Orange NC team – Quintana Stewart (Director, Orange County Health Department), Alisha Bailey and Kim Nguyen (Piedmont Health Services), Love Anderson (Board, Breastfeeding Family Friendly Communities), Kathy Parry (Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute), Stephanie Martin (NCBC), Jennifer Yourkavitch (IBCLC, Editor-The Carrborean), Marcy Williams (Orange County Health Department), Lua Breneman (Breastfeed Orange NC), and Kathleen Anderson (Breastfeed Orange NC) – and their families and members of the Carrboro Town Council were there to celebrate, and the many advocates and stakeholders who were unable to attend were there in spirit!
Carrboro’s dedication to the Breastfeeding Family Friendly Community designation is evident in the Proclamation. Read the Proclamation here or click the link (Breastfeeding-Family-Friendly-Community-Proclamation-6-17-25) or the Download button below, if you’re on your phone.
