This Tuesday, June 17th, Carrboro was officially designated a Breastfeeding Family Friendly Community, and we celebrated this amazing milestone with a gathering at the Carrboro Town Hall before the Town meeting and then joined the meeting to hear the proclamation read!

The Proclamation was read by Mayor Barbara Foushee. Members of the Breastfeed Orange NC team and advocates – Quintana Stewart (Director, Orange County Health Department), Alisha Bailey and Kim Nguyen (Piedmont Health Services), Love Anderson (Board, Breastfeeding Family Friendly Communities), Kathy Parry (Carolina Global Breastfeeding Institute), Marcy Williams (Orange County Health Department), Stephanie Martin (UNC), Jennifer Yourkavitch (Editor, The Carrborean), Lua Breneman (Breastfeed Orange NC), Kathleen Anderson (Breastfeed Orange NC) – their families and members of the Carrboro Town Council were there to celebrate. Many advocates and stakeholders who were unable to attend were celebrating in spirit! We are grateful for their support!
Carrboro’s dedication to the Breastfeeding Family Friendly Community designation is evident in the Proclamation. Read the Proclamation here or click the link (Breastfeeding-Family-Friendly-Community-Proclamation-6-17-25) to open a PDF version.
