Infant and Young Child Feeding in Emergencies (IYCF-E)

Thank you to our communities for all your work to support families after the destruction left by Chantal! Families continue to struggle in the aftermath, and infants and young children are some of our most vulnerable community members impacted by this storm and other emergencies.

To support our emergency workers and first responders, the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition SAFE Team has developed an IYCF-E training opportunity - Nourishing Resilience: SAFE Infant Feeding in Crisis. This is a free training for healthcare providers, first responders, lactation & childbirth professionals, community health worker, and any community members who are invested in emergency preparedness for infants and young children.

Breastfeed Orange NC is dedicated to First Food Equity to improve the health and well-being of children and their families. We advocate for policies and practices to protect, promote, and support breastfeeding, chestfeeding, and human milk feeding families. We continue to build awareness through education, resources, and outreach to our local governments, businesses and organizations, healthcare providers, childcare providers, and educational systems.
